Aftercare Instructions

To achieve the best results after your enhancement at Kelly’s Dream Brows, proper care is crucial. Please follow these cosmetic tattoo aftercare instructions diligently. Feel free to reach out for any questions or concerns.

During the initial healing period:

Expect minimal scabbing or flaking, with complete healing in 4-6 weeks. The tattoo will lighten and soften, which may seem like color loss. Be patient as your skin regenerates and exfoliates. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true, strengthened color.

  • What to Avoid During the Healing Process:

    • Keep the treated area away from soap, shampoo, or other cleansers for the first five days.

    • Resist the urge to pick or scratch any dry skin/flakiness; let it naturally shed to prevent scarring and pigment loss.

    • Avoid applying makeup to the tattooed area for the initial 2 weeks, as cosmetics can hinder the healing process and color retention.

    • Steer clear of Vaseline, Neosporin, or other petroleum-based products during the healing period.

    • Don't bleach, tint, or dye the tattooed area for at least one month following the procedure.

    • Do not use any anti-acne products (like Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid) or skin-lightening creams (hydroquinone) while healing.

    • Stay away from anti-aging or facial products containing Alpha Hydroxyls (AHAs), Retin-A, Lactic, or Glycolic Acids.

    • Avoid threading, waxing, or using hair removal products on the treated area during the healing phase.

    • Refrain from intense exercise or sweating a few days before and one week after the procedure.

    • Stay out of swimming pools, jacuzzis, or bodies of water for two weeks.

    • Don't submerge your face in bathwater or allow direct shower spray on your face for two weeks.

    After Healing (4-6 Weeks):

    • Most clients require multiple treatments; new procedures typically involve at least two appointments.

    • We assess how your skin has accepted the color and make any necessary adjustments. Older clients or those with prior cosmetic tattoos may need multiple sessions.

    • Most cosmetic tattoos maintain their color as they fade. If not, we have a special formula to address the issue.

    Preserving Tattoo Color:

    • Permanent eyebrows typically last 1-3 years, depending on various factors. Touch-ups every 12-18 months help maintain shape and pigment saturation.

    • Sun exposure can cause color to fade faster, so apply sunscreen once everything is fully healed, taking care not to affect the tattooed area. Skin type, lifestyle, color choice, capillary health, and chemical peels also play a role.

IMPORTANT: After the flakes have naturally shed, a shiny layer of healing skin covers the treated area, making it seem as if the tattoo has disappeared. Over 1-2 weeks, the pigment gradually reappears at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.

Top Tips to Protect Permanent Makeup Color:

    • Use sunscreen.

    • Wear large sunglasses and a hat.

    • Rinse and dry the area thoroughly after exposure to chlorine.

    • Keep glycolic acid, microdermabrasion, and chemical face peel products away from the tattooed area.
